There will be a 4 hour power outage at the Exley Science Center and Science Library on Saturday, January 16, 2010 from 10 AM to 2 PM. The purpose is to program, commission and test the newly installed electrical equipment. We expect data and phone services to continue uninterrupted but precautions should be taken in the event that there is an unexpected occurrence.
During this 4 hour time period the Exley Science Center and Science Library will have no power and will be on generator power to support emergency lighting, the ITS data center, public safety radios and WESU. The academic compute cluster will not have power and will be shutdown Friday evening 1/15 and will be brought back up Saturday afternoon following the shutdown.
We expect that the duration will be short enough such that equipment like refrigerators will not require temporary power. We suggest that any sensitive electrical equipment, like computers, be properly powered down.
