Email claiming to come from CNN.com links to malware sites

Some of the users received an email claiming to come from CNN.com containing top stories from CNN. When the user clicks on any of the links, the user is taken to a website that installs a virus/worm on your computer that can potentially affect your computer. ITS has taken steps to identify and remove these emails. However, if you received such an email, we strongly advise you to remove it at once and not click on any of the links.

SAS, Stata, Matlab, HLM, Lisrel, Gauss, and Repec will be unavailable Wednesday August 6th from 7:00 AM - Noon.

The server’s operating system will be upgraded and logins will not be permitted.

ITS Network Maintenance

We will be performing the following network maintenance on Sunday, Aug 3rd at 8:00am.

1) Install new Internet gateways to allow for future increases in our Internet connection speed.

2) Upgrade our wireless networking controllers.

During the installation and upgrade connectivity to the Internet and the Air Wes network will be disrupted for no more than 30 minutes.

If you have any questions regarding this, please contact your desktop support staff or the ITS administrative Helpdesk at 685-4777.

Envi/IDL, Mathematica and RATS software unavailable July 30th, 7AM-Noon

Envi/IDL, Mathematica and RATS software will be unavailable July 30th, 7AM-Noon. The server hosting these software packages (chloe) will undergo an operating system upgrade to redhat linux AS5. Hence, no logins will be permitted during this period.

Wesfiles will be unavailable Tuesday, July 22nd, 5-8 AM

Delete Phishing E-mails

We continue to receive phishing E-mails asking the users to respond with their passwords and date of births. Please delete these emails at once and NEVER respond to them. ITS will never ask the users to send their passwords by E-mail. We are working to filter these messages so they do not reach the users.

ePortfolio and Blackboard unavailable July 2nd, 5:30-7:00 am

The database back up procedures for today July 1st failed to complete, and are rescheduled for tomorrow morning July 2nd, 5:30-7:00 AM. ePortfolio and Blackboard will be unavailable during this period.

Mail delays yesterday, June 23rd

Yesterday, June 23, between approximately 11AM and 4PM, an unusually high volume of incoming spam caused delivery delays for incoming mail. The delays were highly variable, but mail was typically delayed a couple of hours. Please note that only incoming external mail was affected; internal Wesleyan mail flowed normally throughout the day.
