ITS is investigating the cause of a network slowdown that started around 4:30 PM and is causing erratic performance on segments of the network.

ITS is investigating the cause of a network slowdown that started around 4:30 PM and is causing erratic performance on segments of the network.
ITS will be upgrading the Moodle system on Tuesday morning, August 5 during the scheduled system maintenance window. You will notice some changes in the interface. Moodle will be online by 7:00 am and available for use.
There was a service interruption in some perimeter buildings on the south side of campus between 5 and 6 pm today. ITS has resolved the problem.
On Saturday, July 12 from 7am-7pm, ITS will be completing an upgrade on WesFiles. Access to any files on WesFiles will be unavailable during this time. Please plan accordingly. ITS completed its maintenance early and all systems are online and functioning as of 10:00 am this morning.
Systems affected – All ITS systems including file storage, PeopleSoft Systems, Moodle, Millennium and email. (Internet access will continue to work from campus). Microsoft has recently released a software patch fixing a serious vulnerability in their Internet Explorer (IE) Web browser. The patch is available for installation via Windows Update. WesFiles went off line for about 20 minutes from 10:40 to 11:00 am. ITS has resolved the issue. Xythos Drive users who were working on documents should save their files again before continuing. If you have any trouble saving your file, contact your Desktop Support Specialist and do not close the file.
News about the Heartbleed security threat continues to circulate. Many users in our community have contacted ITS asking for advice about changing passwords and whether they need to change their Wesleyan password. Another Internet security story has made the headlines. This new threat, referred to as Heartbleed, exploits a vulnerability in an application in widespread use called OpenSSL.
